The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) was previously in the majority with 68 seats but now has 45 while the Labour Party (LP) has one.
The All Progressives Congress (APC)
has won majority status in the Nigerian Senate after winning 64 seats
in the recently concluded National Assembly elections.

development is expected to alter the configuration of the Senate
leadership when the upper house resumes as current President, David Mark and other principal officers will lose their seats to APC members.
The APC's candidate, Muhammadu Buhari also won the Presidential elections which held on March 28 and 29 across Nigeria.
